Hickman Charter School is a publicly funded, tuition free program whose mission is to support parent choice home education by providing quality materials, expertise of credentialed teachers, and a range of on-site classes and field trips for students in Grades TK-8.

Through our main site in Hickman, or through our Sonora and Alameda resource centers, we are able to serve residents of Stanislaus county and any of the seven bordering counties.

We think Hickman Charter School is a wonderful, engaging community of learners and we want you to discover that as well!  We want you to feel comfortable partnering with us to educate your child.  At any time in the enrollment process, please feel free to contact us directly and ask for clarification.

Steps to enroll

Step 1. Complete an interest application

After filling out an Interest Application you will be contacted with details regarding upcoming information meetings. Fill out a separate Interest Application for each student you are planning to enroll.

These meetings allow us to fully explain the inner workings of the Hickman Charter School program and enable you to have your questions answered with the added benefit of hearing the questions of other parents as well. Attendance at an Information Meeting is required before registering.

After a staff member reviews your Interest Application at the Information meeting and you decide that HCS is a good fit for your family, you will be invited to register your student(s) using forms provided.  Please see the list of required documents below that will need to accompany your registration form.  When your registration is completed you will be placed in a pool of prospective students and assigned an Education Coordinator according to availability. After it is confirmed that your student has a spot in HCS, one of our credentialed Education Coordinators will contact you to set up an appointment to choose curriculum for the Fall.  These first meetings typically happen in early May.  Mid-year registration follows a similar process, but one of our staff will meet individually with you to answer your questions about our program.
